Jazz (6 years and up)
This form of dance blends popular music and current dance trends with the
polish and technique of performance dance. Each teacher uses her own
creativity in class adding a personal touch to the choreography. Jazz is
energetic and up-temp, an excellent body conditioner.
Tap (6 years and up)
Our tap program is structured under the Al Gilbert Dance Syllabus and the
Brian Foley Dance Syllabus. By using two systems, our students will receive
the strengths of each allowing them to receive the best level of
instruction. Tap lets you use your body as a rhythm instrument. It develops
agility, musicality and stylized movement.
Ballet (6 years and up)
This discipline of training develops strength, proper posture, flexibility
and coordination. Ballet is an excellent foundation for all other dance
forms as it teaches basic dance vocabulary and body placement. Our ballet
study is structured under the Royal Academy of Dance (R.A.D.) Syllabus and is an excellent program.
Pointe classes will offered at the instructors discretion.
Lyrical/Modern (9 years and up; must be presently enrolled in ballet
and jazz)
These disciplines are a combination of ballet, jazz and creative movement.
They incorporate a full range of body movements as well as enhance training
in flexibility, strength, balance, agility and movement.
Hip Hop (6 years and up)
This style of dance is funky, energetic and a lot of fun! It incorporates
the latest dance moves with the latest dance music – it’s the latest rage!
Musical Theatre (6 years and up; preferably enrolled in jazz)
Our musical theatre classes will focus on developing different character
types for the stage. As dancers progress in their training, it is an asset
for them to have the ability to perform with their emotions and feelings as
well as technical merit.
Jazz Technique (Stretch & Strength, Turns
& Jumps)
The combination of body flexibility and strength is imperative to a
successful jazz dancer. Each class will begin with a complete stretch and
strengthening program, followed by a breakdown of learning and improving the
many turns and jumps used in jazz dance. This class is required for all
students who are enrolled in the
Performance Program.
Workshop Series (8 years and up)
This is an open class that will vary in disciplines from month to month
and will feature guest instructors from all over Alberta.
